Rubia cordifolia (Manjishtha): A review based upon its Ayurvedic and Medicinal uses

Medicinal herbs have a rich history of their utilization for variety ailments. India is categorized among those countries which produced vast medicinal plants. also called as “Botanical garden the world”. plants are source discovery new drugs across world. Most available today some herbal content in them. Rubia Cordifolia (Manjishtha) climber herb having small flowers greenish white colour grouped around purplish fleshy fruits. The roots cordifolia imparts red from where dye obtained due to presence brownish bark. This plant mainly cultivated hilly areas. Manjishtha has very significant place Ayurveda one most ancient health care systems Charaka this varnya (for enhancement skin complexion), jvarahara (anti-pyretic), visaghna (a detoxifier) and rasayana (rejuvenator). While it pittasamsamana (one maintains pitta dosha body i.e. fire component body) by Acharya Sushrut. potential pacifiy dosha. phytochemical constituents associated with wide range therapeutic properties. In review, summary its phytochemistry, uses different like folk system scientific properties reported.
